15. MEPW: Statement of Goals
Statement of Goals
Why are we doing this? Why are we interested in this? Because it is the right thing to do considering what we already know.
“For the planet there is no Plan B.”
Gordon Brown, Prime Minister of England (19 October 2009)
We must accept our authority to exercise equal power over the conduct of earth’s affairs. We must act according to our principles and shift the balance of power away from individual, communal, corporate and political abusers to the protectors of all living things and of the Earth. If this means divesting men of the power they have maintained until now, so be it. Let them deal with it.
First we will examine the power issues involved in each of the 12 fields specified. After that, we will move in an orderly way from what we ought to do, to what is achievable, to what we can do. We will conceive of solutions for ecosystem enhancement and environmental restoration as part of the permanent infrastructure of human affairs. After that, we will make a statement of our goals.
Constitution
To reinforce the commitment to our goals we will define the MOTHER EARTH POWER WORKS in a constitution.
• Our principles: The feminine principle as extended to our goals.
• The nature of the project: Women developing and exercising power to save the earth.
• The function of MEPW: How we will do it – the immediate and ongoing work to achieve our goals.
We must change the way we live on the planet. And we must prove our claims of equality to future generations as women who rose to the challenge and created a new set of values so that people and the planet would survive.
